Today I am starting as a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. I arrived last week, which left a few days to move in, find my way around campus, and see something of Berkeley and San Francisco. Over the next three months, I will be working on why professional forecasters overreact to news and how their subjective models of the economy relate to it. Spending these months at one of the leading departments in the field, and the place where much of the literature I build on was written, is a privilege. I am also looking forward to the research environment itself, the many seminars each week, and campus life at Berkeley. My thanks to Yuriy Gorodnichenko for hosting me, and to everyone who helped make this stay possible. If you are in the Bay Area or passing through, I would be glad to meet for a coffee or lunch. I am happy to talk about expectation formation in macroeconomics and finance, and doing macro with micro data. Beyond Berkeley, I will be presenting two of my papers at the University of Chicago in September and at UT Austin in October. Time to get to work!
